So yesterday I got to ride 64 miles. The first 50 were pretty good, but then my headphones stopped working, a quick rain upped the humidity, and the sun put temps into the upper 80s. By the time I got to class I was exhausted and running on energy drink. Here’s the map. The GPS was screwy at the end and didn’t capture the whole ride.
There’s been a lot of time since my last post, and a lot of work done. Here’s a list of stuff we’ve been up to.
-My webmaster Brian is helping me build and manage a new site. It’s got all the bells and whistles. We are hoping to have it ready by the end of October.
-I’ve contacted the Ride2Recovery ride coordinator and we are working together on an event for next Memorial Day weekend. I will be riding through Chicago at that time and we have found a cycling/running retailer that is interested in sponsoring it.
-The American Marketing Association chapter at school has gotten together to help Pax2Pax. Their doing what they can to spread the word around town, on campus, and on the internet. Their president is putting me in contact with a Communications student to help create a better video than the one I made.
-I have a meeting with the Public Relations student group at school as well. We’ll see what they can offer Pax2Pax tomorrow.
-Denny was on ABC news, getting interviewed for all the riding he’s been doing with Ride2Recovery. He’s going to be brings a lot of media attention to the ride next year!
-Peter is nearly done with the final stages of production for his latest film. I’ll post links here as soon as I can.
-He also contacted GoPro for a sponsorship. They’re interested, but they need to have a meeting first to confirm their involvement. Maybe you can email them and let them know they should get behind us?
-Deavon Black, another marine I served with and personal trainer, contacted me about staging a crossfit fundraiser in Connecticut as we ride through Hartford. We should know a bit more by the end of the month.
-I’ve contacted a couple companies looking for national sponsors: Clif Bar and Ubisoft. (Assassin’s Creed ftw)
-Challenge coins have been approved for the budget. I’m still deciding on how to use them to their fullest potential. I know people want to buy some so I will probably use them mainly for fundraising.
That’s all I can think of right now. I’ll be keeping up better on the blog now that my schedule has become less hectic.
